MOS Internet Lecture

The MOS Internet Lecture (MOIL) course provides students with the fundamentals of digital literacy and computer usage. The course covers topics such as cyber and cloud computing, databases and operating systems. It also includes hands-on experience developing documents and evaluating sources of information. Students will also create a basic web page. Additionally, the course will address social and legal issues related to the internet.

Course description

The MOS Internet Lecture course description focuses on fundamental topics in engineering electromagnetics. Students learn about the basic concepts of electricity, magnetic fields, and dielectric materials and how these can be used to create smart devices and electronic systems. They will learn how to integrate these devices and systems into networks and applications. They will also study Maxwell’s equations and Faraday’s law of induction, and how to perform laboratory experiments.

The course also discusses design issues for CMOS and NMOS logic. The course uses CAD tools to specify circuitry suitable for fabrication. It is intended for Senior and Graduate students in Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering. The course teaches the fundamentals of designing a custom chip and addresses the complexities of implementing it.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for MOS Internet Lecture are CS 111 and CS 161. The course introduces the concepts and design of a computer system. Topics covered include the design of the arithmetic and logic unit, memory, and input/output systems. This course is restricted to senior-level students.
