Hairline correction requires a refined aesthetic eye to create the balanced, natural results that patients desire. The procedures can be performed from start to finish under local anesthetic with sedation or general anesthesia.
If the scalp is not elastic enough to lower the desired hairline, a tissue expander may be used to slowly stretch the skin to make the surgery possible.
Scalp Advancement
During the scalp advancement procedure, your surgeon moves the hair-bearing scalp forward and secures it in a lower position on the forehead. This shortens the distance between the glabellar lines, creating more balanced and harmonious facial proportions. This technique is also often combined with forehead bone contouring and/or brow lift for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
This procedure is a great option for people who have thin or uneven hair at the front of the head. However, it’s important to consider progressive hair loss before undergoing this type of treatment. It’s also worth noting that this surgery may require several sessions to achieve a satisfactory result.

Swelling and bruising are normal after this procedure, but should subside within a few days. You should be able to resume light activities after three to four days and return to full activity in about a week. You might also experience short-term numbness near your forehead. Some patients find that this numbness diminishes over time.
Forehead Reduction
A forehead reduction, or hairline lowering, surgical procedure shortens the distance between your scalp and eyebrows. It involves moving the hair-bearing scalp forward to lower your forehead in one surgery, often advancing it by three-fourths of an inch or more.
During this operation, local anesthesia and sedation will ensure you are comfortable and pain-free. An incision will be made at your high hairline, and excess forehead skin is surgically removed.헤어라인
After the incision heals, any residual scar tissue will be camouflaged by your natural hair growth. If you want additional concealment, our surgeon can also perform natural-looking hair transplants to further advance your new hairline and camouflage the surgical scar.
Forehead reduction is a popular and effective solution for patients who are self-conscious about the width of their forehead or who have to hide their hairline with scarves and hats. It is a safe, routine surgery with very high patient satisfaction. Schedule a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for this procedure.모발이식
Tissue Expander
During this procedure, your surgeon inserts a tissue expander under the skin that requires expansion. The expander is filled with salt-water over time, which causes the skin to stretch and grow. This enables tension-free removal of the nonhair-bearing skin to lower your hairline.
The insertion of an expander must be carefully planned to accommodate future reconstructive needs and maintain blood flow in the region. Early inflation (as soon as possible after insertion) decreases the likelihood of complications such as hematoma and seroma formation, minimizes loss of skin flap length, and reduces the total number of surgeries required to accomplish reconstruction.
In some situations, such as when a lesion is present in the scalp or forehead, it may be possible to insert an expander during excision and then perform reconstruction at a subsequent operation. However, this compromises the adequacy of surgical margins under histologic examination and increases the risk that neoplastic cells could spread throughout the pocket created for the expander.
Combination Procedures
Choosing combination procedures can streamline your surgical experience. Combination techniques also produce more comprehensive results for the best aesthetic outcomes possible.
For women with high foreheads, hairline lowering surgery can dramatically improve self-esteem and confidence by reshaping the forehead for a more balanced appearance. In many cases, this cosmetic enhancement is a solution to long-standing insecurities related to childhood or adolescent teasing or bullying that can have permanent effects on self-esteem.
In women who require more than 2 cm of hairline lowering, the surgeon may recommend a 2-stage procedure involving a tissue expander. Over time, this expansion technique stretches the scalp, which allows the doctor to lower the hairline more substantially than with a single stage procedure. Some patients who require this treatment may also choose to add hair transplants to camouflage the scar and provide further reshaping of the forehead. This can be especially helpful in cases where a roundness that cannot be achieved with just hairline lowering surgery is desired.
