How do I set up my library account from home or elsewhere?
A home account is great to have because you can browse the catalog and put holds on materials, which will be sent to a library of your choice for pickup. You can also review your checked out items and renew them if you need to.
1. First you'll need to get a library card. Bring a picture ID to the library and you can get a card at no cost. If you already have a card from any central Mass. library it is good for all others. 2. Click here: https://cmars.cwmars.org/patroninfo~S201 3. Enter the number on the back of your library card. 4. You will be prompted to create a PIN, which can be numbers, letters or a combination. However, it must not be too simple or you'll be prompted to create one that is more complex. Once you have created a PIN, make a note of it because you'll need to use it each time you want to log in.
How do I find a book or movie and put a hold on it?
Click "Online Catalog" and search for the item either by title or author. If there is more than one item listed, check for the format you'd like, ie: book, DVD, large print, audio, etc. and choose that. Then check its "STATUS" on the right. "MISSING," "BILLED" or "REPAIR" means the item is no longer available. You can put a hold on by clicking the orange "REQUEST" button, then entering your card # and PIN and the location where you want to pick it up. You'll be called when the item is ready for pickup. If you are only searching one library, such as Webster, and you don't find the item you want, change your search to "All Central MA Libraries" in the drop-down menu.
